Just to prove I can stoop as low as anybody for news, here’s the latest L.A. Times scoop
verbatim from the top:![]()
It’s “The Donald” to the rescue.
Mega-developer and TV personality Donald Trump has agreed to buy Ed McMahon’s
Beverly Hills house for an undisclosed amount and allow McMahon to
continue living in it. Details of the deal are still being ironed out,
but Trump’s interest is regarded as an act of benevolence.
“I don’t know the man, but I grew up watching him on TV,” Trump said in an exclusive interview with The Times.
What an idea! Buy the house before the owner has been evicted. Maybe the city which wants to use federal money to buy foreclosed homes after the owners have been thrown out on the street could take a cue.

I complained to Councilman Zine about traffic issues on every street you mentioned and more. The one problem I did not mention was speed. I complained about stupid drivers making unsafe lane changes, tailgating, pulling away from curbs without signalling and running red lights. All dangerous.
I suggested that the Councilman arrange for more traffic enforcement along the streets you mentioned especially during rush hours. That’s when I see the most accidents and the most dangerous driving Zine passed my complaint along to an officer at Valley Traffic Division. When I followed up with that officer to see what the LAPD was doing about increased enforcement, I got a host of excuses but not increased enforcemnt. There has been a rash of bad accidents in Zine’s district including one involving a school bus. An empty one, thank GOD! Two teens lost their lives at Shoup and Vanowen earlier this year. I never did hear what caused that accident.
You are right Ron. The City Council could give a hamster’s tail about actual public safety issues. I don’t know though that the City gets the money from moving violations. I thought that went to the State to discourage localities from profiteering. The localities do get the proceeds of parking violations.
The crappy driving in West L.A. and Beverly Hills has inspired a blog. Check out http://www.lacantdrive.com.
I hope you will join me in giving the City Council some Hell for letting our streets become so dangerous and not just from gang members.
Illegal aliens (of which there are millions) can’t drive either…and should NOT be allowed to drive! I’m sure they are greatly responsible for the increase in fatalities associated with many accidents.
Come on, people! Give it up–LA is a dying city–an awful, toxic, congested, corrupt, rotting corpse of a place
POOR Ed! is right. The Donald must have an ulterior motive.
I MISS my Valley Circle Boulevard speed-way. Damn those stop signs, anyway.
I also miss the refined signage — probably done by some El Camino Real High School pranksters — who changed the street sign at VCB and Platt from Valley Cir to Valley Girl. With rare speed, the city fixed the sign within 24-hours after the prank. I still wonder how the kids got up there to change the “C” to a “G” and add the “L”.
IF WE’RE arrested by Tonio’s water police, doesn’t it follow that we’ll not only have to pay a fine, but be water boarded, too? Nah, that would be wasting water and then we’d have to fine and arrest the water police.
So far as I can figure, the water policing only applies to outdoor watering. What’s next, the water police taking showers with us? Well now, that might be interesting…depending.
FINALLY, they want us to live in a Nazi water police state, whereby they are asking neighbors to turn in neighbors for watering sidewalks and streets.
I suppose they’ll also want us to check our watches to make sure watering is only done during the prescribed times, and use our kitchen time-ticker-offers to make sure they don’t water for one second longer than they’re allowed.
