NAKED CITY, a daily news report

Short takes on another busy day:

Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa reports raising $600,000 more for his re-election campaign but only $103,000 for his troubled Measure R Transportation Tax. His hit-man campaign strategist Ace Smith
proves truth has no meaning at all to him with his boast about why the jet-setting mayor who fears a well-funded challenger entering the race has been able to raise $2.3 million for his re-election: “Angelenos are showing overwhelming support for the
mayor’s leadership in taking on the city’s biggest challenges.”

In the last fallout of the Hahn Administration scandals, former city commissioner Leland Wong got five years in prison for bribery, embezzlement and
a host of other offenses. Wong was a fixture on the city’s juice commissions — Water and Power, Airports, and Harbor — for three mayors.

I have a question, and this question probably reflects on my ignorance of politics and how the big picture of politics works. By the way, I’m a Democrat.
But why does the mayor of L.A. go to Texas to raise money for himself?
That question asked I have another: Should that even be legal? If “money is the mother’s milk of politics” then how can it be fair or legal for any candidate to finance their campaign with direct contributions from people who don’t even live here?
I’m not talking about money that goes to the big DNC and RNC pots and then is distributed to all candidates. That’s fine with me and fair. But how can it be fair for people outside of L.A., or even outside of CA, be allowed to elect by funding any of our politicians?
Tsk,tsk, tsk…the founding fathers could never have imagined all the ways money manipulates the electoral process now, could they?

As the National Campaigns wind down, the Local races will provide much opportunity to address the lack of leadership and false achievements of the past four years.

He’s going to need to raise an additional $2 million if he expects to beat me.
Here are some fun facts for you:
Guess how many people have contributed to his campaign? Now guess how many have contributed to mine?
Next question: guess the average size of the contribution for his campaign and mine.
For the answers, go to my website and sign up for my newsletter. The answers may surprise you.
And speaking of contributors, if you’d like to upgrade from the 11% Mayor, check out my platform and credentials and, if you like what you see, contribute money so I can buy more ads, get a bumper sticker and yard sign, and COME TO MY RALLY TUESDAY, 7:00 P.M., AT THE WOODLAND HILLS MARRIOTT.

    Right Side News reports:
The video that could cost Obama the election.
    Link: http://canadafreepress.com/index.php/article/5411
The video shows how Obama used his elected office-and-taxpayers’ dollars-to support a man like Kenya’s Raila Odinga, self touted as “Your Agent for Change”.
Obama spporters in Carson City chanted “No USA!” Odinga supporters in Kenya, brandished machetes and chanted “No Peace!”
Human Rights Watch states that Odinga’s Socialist Orange Democratic Movement “actively fomented post-election violence” when Raila lost by 231,728 votes.
In Kenya, allegations of vote rigging came before a single ballot was ever cast.
(Leftists and Obama supporters are already saying that SNOPES denies the veracity of the Odinga/Obama video. But as Hollenbeck points out, “it wouldn’t be the first time that SNOPES said something was untrue that I KNEW was true!”)
Like the Artful Dodger of contemporary politics, Obama has wormed his way past the media and the American electorate at almost every opportunity.
With the liberal media running Obama’s campaign for him, the reporting of Obama’s real history and past has been rewritten with more lies that even Hillary’s bio.
Read everything you can about Obama. He’s worse than just a phony – he’s been carefully crafted and molded by some of the world’s most dangers Socialists.

    Obama and the New Party
    by Erick Erickson
    06/10/2008
The New Party was established in 1992 “by union activist Sandy Pope and University of Wisconsin professor Joel Rogers,” USA Today reported on November 16, 1992. The paper wrote that the new party was “self-described [as] ‘socialist democratic.’”
Joel Rogers sought to use the idea of “fusion” as a way to get the New Party into power.
Fusion is a pretty simple concept. A candidate could run as both a Democrat and a New Party member to signal the candidate was, in fact, a left-leaning candidate, or at least not a center-left DLC type candidate. If the candidate — let’s call him Barack Obama — received only 500 votes in the Democratic Party against another candidate who received 1000 votes, Obama would clearly not be the nominee. But, if Obama also received 600 votes from the New Party, Obama’s New Party votes and Democratic votes would be fused. He would be the Democratic nominee with 1100 votes.
Fusion, fortunately for the country, died in 1997. William Rehnquist, writing for a 6-3 Supreme Court, found the concept was not a protected constitutional right. It was two years too late to stop Obama.
In 1995, the New Ground, the newsletter of the Chicago Chapter of Democratic Socialists of America, noted, “In Chicago, the New Party’s biggest asset and biggest liability is ACORN.
“Like most organizations, ACORN is a mixed bag. On one hand, in Chicago, ACORN is a group that attempts to organize some of the most depressed communities in the city. Chicago organizers for ACORN and organizers for SEIU Local 880 have been given modest monthly recruitment quotas for new New Party members. On the other hand, like most groups that depend on canvassing for fundraising, it’s easy enough to find burned out and disgruntled former employees. And ACORN has not had the reputation for being interested in coalition politics — until recently and, happily, not just within the New Party.”
Naturally, Barack Obama was an active part of ACORN at the time, helping it legally in court and helping it organize voters. By 1996, ACORN and the New Party were essentially the same body. Along with the Democratic Socialists of America, the New Party endorsed Barack Obama in his State Senate bid.
