Bjagojevich Breakthrough: Selling Public Offices Outright

Contrary to popular opinion, I think Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich might be on to something.

Forget this stuff about campaign finance reform and clean money and the other efforts to clean up government. It ought to be clear by now that all levels of government in America are owned by special interests of one sort or another. Nowhere is that truer than in L.A.

So let’s stop pretending. Let’s just sell public offices.

Instead of the mayor and City Council candidates going out hat in hand to unions, contractors, consultants, developers and fat cats of various types and giving them whatever they want in exchange for campaign cash, let’s just put our elected offices up on eBay and sell them to the highest bidder.

At least then we would know who owns the office and have a pretty good idea of what they are up to. At least, it would bring transparency to government which would be cleaner and more honest than the system we now have in L.A. where the offices are sold to the highest bidders in secret.

Are you implying that many L.A. City elections are rigged? Does that mean that the major news media is misleading the public into voting on information that isn’t true? Does that mean that the L.A. County Registrar-Recorder-Clerk has sometime misinterpreted vote counts to favor select candidates? Can this be possible? Has City Council Members broken the law with impunity with no effort by the responsible L.A. city or county enforcement agencies, in obvious acts of collusion?
Oh my, it can’t be!!! But, it’s true. Believe it.

    Los Angeles City Council
The Council is “Awaiting a Quorum” for Councilmembers Janice Hahn, Ed Reyes, and Greig Smith.
During confirmation of Mr. Javier C. Angulo to the East Los Angeles Area Planning Commission, Councilmember Bill Rosendahl commented regarding a Day without a Gay, Item 1. This comment appeared to be a NON-Agenda item, but the deputy city attorney failed to correct Rosendahl.
City Council neglected to fund an attorney to represent Controller Chick, Item 42. However, Council did not hesitate to proceed with Proposition R, TERM EXTENSION, which cost Angelenos millions? This proposition only benefited Council and not Angelenos as a whole.

After one first gets past the shock, then there is not much more to do but laugh at that governor. But the one that made my jaw drop was when I heard he was trying to get the Chicago columnist fired because her writing was critical of him.
I get upset when politicians attempt to shred The Constitution. It’s a pet peeve of mine.

All is not lost for poor Gov. Bjagojevich.
In 2010, if not sooner, we will be hiring a new CA governor. Bjagojevich would certainly qualify for the job…in fact he might be slightly over-qualified! Nevertheless, he would be a great replacement for Schwarzenegger!
BTW, heard on Kevin James last nite that the three most corrupt States are: Louisiana, California, and Illinois! By corrupt, it means that these States have MORE convicted public officials than any other States in the Nation! It’s not surprising that CA beats Illinois in this category!!!

His name is BLAGOJEVICH (pronounced Blah-goy-o-vich)
He’s the second Chicago mayor in a row to be caught up in a scandal. Ryan is doing time and expects a presidential pardon…. He’ll probably get it. As for Rob- it’s still just a scandal- lets see if the special interests have his “never go to court” card up their sleeve!
