The battle lines are drawn for the Council District 2 special election on Sept. 22 and if money talks -- and it usually does in politics -- Chris Essel should be unbeatable.

She's raised nearly $200,000, which is more than the rest of the nine candidates combined.

Her list of 495 contributors includes such luminaries as Barbara Steisand and Vlade Divac and his wife, studio executives and many others in entertainment industry interests, real estate and development interests, construction company and trade unions, lawyers and consultants of various types and even a wives of lobbyists thrown in.

"To buy" has different connotations in the CD2 race
Essel:has been bought.
CD2 residents: will not be bought.

Rumor has it Essel will redistrict CD2 and put renegade Sunland-Tujunga, Lake View Terrace and Shadow Hills into CD7!

OVER OUR DEAD BODIES!

VOTE MARY BENSON FOR CD2!!!!!!!!!!!!

Don't listen to rumors.

Vote for Zuma Dogg and know what you're getting!

The City Attorney is looking at irregularities at LAWA during Essel`s tenure.Stay tuned!

Angelenos always vote for elected officials that have ties with special interest groups. Once elected the elected official(s) are loyal to their campaign contributors and not the people who voted for him or her. Don’t vote based on the 20 second TV ads or colorful fliers, which is what the special interest money will buy and used to fool the voters. The candidate who raises the most money is NOT always the most qualified person for the job.

The listed below should immediately raise a RED flag because only a very small percent of campaign donors are from CD 2.

9:40: I don't like Chris Essel but this sounds like just another vindictive Trutanich thing, trying to kill the chances of someone allegedly associated with the mayor. Using his office for political intimidation again.

If there are financial irregularities, that would be the Controller Wendy Greuel's job.

Trutanich is all about his vendettas and blowing a wad of dough on his "secret tribunals" against anyone BUT those who supported him politically. They'll NEVER look into the dealings of Zine or Hahn, for example. A lot of vindictiveness, showmanship like that coming out party for 500 people this week, a huge "first annual" picnic recently, etc. INSTEAD of civic-mindedness and saving money in HIS dept. He's a Mafia thug.
