I spent all my life struggling to put into words what I believe, what I feel, the truth as I see it. I thought somehow that is what it meant to be an American.
I wrote and edited tens of thousands of stories but it’s only been in the last two years working for love and not money that I began to find my voice as me.
On Monday, I came close during my two minutes in front of the Council Budget Committee and later during a two-minute segment on the NBC news show “The Filter with Fred Roggin” (re-broadcast Tuesday at 11:30 a.m.).
You can believe anything you want but this is what I believe.

Good morning, Ron, you were born an activist.
And you are doing a great job! Thank you, thank you, thank you. TH
BRAVO RON!!!! I love the line you say best, “They have lost confidence in you” (meaning the people) We have no confidence in a bunch of losers who have no solutions yet their arrogance amazes me each week they continue to pass motions and spend money the city doesn’t have. And to add insult to injury a lot of them actually think they should either be re elected or run for higher office. That truly is the insult to the people of Los Angeles.
I’ve never heard so much common sense, so succinctly put, in such little time. You’re words are the words of a leader, Ron, and they scare the living daylights out of that bunch of lilly livered, knuckle dragging, hand wringing, indecisive, incompetent, imbecilic, morally and ethically corrupt, unrepresentative, conniving, duplicitous, sanctimonious, self-serving stuffed shirts who have never, ever, held a real job their entire miserable lives.
You were preaching to a group who have never had to balance a personal household budget, never had to worry about where the next paycheck comes from, or ever, ever, have to make a hard decision. For them there’s always a political safe harbor, either as an elected official, or an appointed lackey where they do the devils work. They bunny hop between the city and Sacramento, leaving behind them the consequences of their disastrous decisions and move on to con other voters into believing their glossy mailers and special interest paid for baloney.
That’s the reality of who you were addressing Ron, and I admire you for putting the clear choice they have to them in no uncertain terms.
Ron,
You so totally rock!
I am not worthy.
Thank you, Ron. The message from the people has been finally delivered.
Thank you for your commitment and passion for our city. Great speech!!! I agree, it is the lack of leadership and accountability that has brought our city to breakdown. However, no matter how we much we all contribute it will not resolve the breakdown unless there is new leadership to manage it. Leadership, integrity, transparency is lacking in the people running our city and based on result they are incapable of running our city effectively.
There are more of us then them, why don’t we take our city back and get these professional politicians out. We cannot trust the same people that got us in this mess to get us out, let along trust them with more money.
Thanks again for being the voice of truth and reason.
