The mayor’s “sunshine” State of the City speech lasted just 27 minutes and he was interrupted by applause just once with applause by an audience packed with friends and campaign contributors.
Here’s how it played in a brilliant six-minute report on KCAL9 Monday night:

The reporters finally are tearing apart the Mayor’s speech with all its contradictions. It was one of the worst speechs by a politician I’ve ever heard. But more fascinating especially because the Mayor continues to defend DWP is Steve Lopez (who steals Ron’s ideas) has a piece this morning of “Who’s Who in Black Los Angeles” and how the DWP paid paid $7,500 in 2008 to be in the first edition of “Who’s Who in Black Los Angeles,” and another $15,000 to be in the current edition. “”These sums aren’t going to break the bank at DWP, a $4.5-billion agency. But that’s ratepayer money, and not since about eighth grade have I met anyone who actually looks at a Who’s Who of anything”"
DWP has 10 of their people in this.
I like the 1950′s kinescope video. Time to invest in some digital recording/editing software.
I actually liked this piece of reporting, which is a refreshing change from the usual regurgitation of Mayoral press releases we usually see on TV and in the Fishwrap of Record. Good call, Ron.
I like your blog its very interesting, keep up the good work!
