This morning the CRA turned City Hall into the .99 Cent Only Store by giving $100s of millions in real property to the City for $1.00.
This was another in a series of hush-hush meetings to hide money from
use for schools, fire and other essential services. The meeting did not
comply with the California Open Meetings Act. John Walsh asked City
Attorney to rule on legality of the meeting – when Deputy City Attorney
tried to speak, meeting Chair Janis cut him off.
special meeting lasted only 23 minutes – from 10:37am to 11:am, 20
minutes of which were taken up by 2 public speakers opposing the move.
It took the CRA only 3 minutes to vote unanimously to put $100s of Millions in CRA property under the City mattress to hide it from the Governor who is seeking to use it for schools, police, fire and other essential services.
John
Walsh asked the Deputy City Attorney present at the meeting, to rule
whether this was a proper meeting under the California Open Meetings
Act. Walsh reminded the Deputy City Attorney, “The voter’s will remember this when Trutanich (the elected City Attorney) is running for election again.”
Near the end of the meeting the Deputy City Attorney, who had been
silent throughout the meeting, attempted to speak. Acting Chair Janis
silenced him before he could get a word out.
The CRA was accused of setting up an “underground Reich” to
run a billion dollars of tax money and countless hundreds of millions
in real property, out of view of the public or media by John Walsh.
Walsh further told them a “cure and correct” letter will be sent by an attorney to challenge the legality of the meeting under the California Open Meetings Act. The last letter about an illegal CRA meeting, written by Attorney Dennis Winston,
caused the CRA to have to wait weeks to redo their illegal meeting.
They may not have that much time to patch things up this time around
around.
On St. Patrick’s Day the mood of the CRA board was as grim as an Irish wake without the booze. The dead body on view was the CRA, which will shortly be no more, thanks to Governor Brown, who, as of this morning, needs only 1 more vote to put the stake through the monster’s heart. Jerry “the Mongoose” Brown does not like to be screwed around with, so he will be even more motivated to put the CRA Cobra out of our misery.
Wayne Spindler, the other public speaker, accused the CRA of making a “gift of public funds” by transferring the CRA funds and property to the City.

Who is John Walsh? How did the CRA’s March 17, 2011 meeting violate the “California Open Meetings Act” (of course, you mean the Ralph M. Brown Act)? I can’t tell from what you wrote in your article.
