Janice and the Gangsters: Part Two

A word of advice to Congresswoman-to-be Janice Hahn — assuming she doesn’t blow next Tuesday’s election — stick to being sweet, charming and ditzy, and get a new lawyer.

When Fox News reporter Chris Blatchford circled around looking for an update to his three-year-old report on how cozy the Councilwoman was with violent gang members, getting them jobs in intervention programs and helping them get out of legal problems, Hahn made it easy.
She refused to talk and had her lawyer send a letter to Fox News 11 demanding the station “cease and desist” from pursuing the story. Doesn’t she know Rupert Murdoch is the most ruthless journalist in history and how his news organizations have gone to such extraordinary lengths like hacking politician and celebrity emails and electronic eavesdropping?
The letter from attorney Stephen Kaufman — treasurer to virtually every campaign by City Hall insiders — gave Blatchford the opening to stick another finger in Hahn’s gang-loving eye last night.

If she has nothing to hide what’s the problem> Not only that being so close to election day she can use the publicity but I guess its not positive publicity in this story. Yup, we all know how Hahn backed the gangsters and ruined the careers of two great LAPD gang cops and had them transferred. Not voting for Janice Hahn

I’m glad you can only “wish to vote” – with people like you – all blow and no action – Hahn will sail to victory.

Anyone that takes the time to research the issues, talk to their friends, and family and then goes out and votes should be commended no matter who they vote for.
If we all do that, at least we’ve participated in a Democracy and can complain with no regrets.

    PRICELESS!
VOTE FOR MR. HUEY AND SEND HAHN BACK TO HER HELLHOLE IN CD15. SOCIETY WILL BE MUCH SAFER THAT WAY.

You are talking about local issues. When we send someone to Washington, these elected officals also face national issues.
Yes, I am disappointed with Obama not returning the troops sooner.
But we don’t need any war hawk increasing defense spending or keeping troops in Iraq or Afghanistan.

  12. Noel Weiss says:

    Ron:
This is complete trash. . . . I invited you to the Watts Gang Task Force meetings over the years on at least 4 (maybe more) occasions. . . You never showed. . . . You don’t appear to care one iota what goes on in the inner-city Ron. . . . If you think you are not impacted by what happens on this side of the hill, in Watts (where nary a positive story is communicated by any media) think again.
So let’s understand this Ron. . . All of a sudden, gang members are more credible than Janice Hahn. . . . I find it beyond incredible that in your zest to trash Janice Hahn you have stooped to the level of accepting the word of gang members over Janice Hahn. The next time a gang member says they are innocent, are you going to leap to their defense and believe their story? If not, why not?
The Fox News story has buried within it the seeds of its own lack of credulity. It is ‘trash’ journalism. . . It is phony journalism. A truly inquiring reporter would ask Chief Beck or Chief Bratton why something like this (if true) would have occurred. A thoughtful reporter would inquire of Chief Beck or Chief Bratton why they support the Watts Gang Task Force; what kinds of law enforcement techniques are required to develop trust between the people and the police. . . and ask them whether Janice Hahn’s efforts in Watts to reduce Gang Violence have been successful.
They didn’t to that because they don’t like the answers they would get. Those answers are that we can’t arrest our way out of the gang problem; that the Watts Gang Task Force has been successful at saving lives; that Janice Hahn’s efforts have been incredibly positive, constructive, citizen empowering, and that but for Janice Hahn’s leadership, none of the positive results (which continue to go unreported) would have been possible.
That would be ‘balanced’ Ron. . . But it’s not coming from from Fox News however because Fox News has a political agenda . . . to promote Republicans and conservatives; and it now appears you also have one. . . To elect Craig Huey. . . . now a favored Republican. . . on whose behalf you choose to shill.
Ron, you are so incredibly ignorant about this subject., you have no business rendering an opinion. You diminish yourself in the process. . . I have been a member of the Watts Gang Task force for the past 5 years. . . They meet every Monday at Janice Hahn’s Watts office with LAPD, members of the community, and local government. I have probably attended over 100 meetings over the years.I do know what I’m talking about.
Chief Beck. .. and former Chief Bratton would never say nice things about Janice Hahn if what you imply is true and what this story implies is true. Both have spoken with high praise of Janice Hahn and her efforts with the Watts Gang Task Force in particular, and with reducing gang violence in general. Janice Hahn’s efforts have saved lives. . . .
You know why the Watts Gang Task Force works Ron? Because to lessen crime and defeat the attempt by the gangs to rape and pillage communities, the citizens have to be empowered and an element of trust has to be built between the police and the people. It is a real-live ‘Tipping Point’ (as in Malcolm Gladwell’s ‘The Tipping Point’).
That’s what the Watts Gang Task Force has done and that’s what Janice Hahn has done. . . reduce crime, empower the people of Watts to gain greater control over their lives. . . and engender greater trust between the police and the people.
Meanwhile, homicides are down significantly in Watts. . . gang violence is down significantly in Watts. That’s a good thing Ron. . . . . If you had demonstrated some class and come to one or more Task Force meetings, you would see how incredibly stupid, inane, false, and contrived this Fox story is. . .
I’ll do you one better Ron. . . Many of LAPD top brass (Commanders and Captains) had the cell phone numbers of known gang members. . . and the gang members had (and probably still have) the cell phone numbers of former gang members.
So let’s look at this another way. Let’s say Fox News decides to go after LAPD brass as soft on crime or being ‘in bed’ with the gangs. . . The ‘game’ would be to play racial politics and inflame the divisions with the old stereotypes. The story line would be contrived and created to give that appearance by saying that the brass is ‘close’ and ‘cuddly’ to the gangs because they are in constant communication with them. . The cell phone exchange proves it . Obviously false. . . but it leaves the appearance of police cooperating with known gang members. . . The same ‘charge’ being leveled (falsely) at Janice Hahn.
The facts are that Janice Hahn’s efforts have saved lives in Watts. . . An element of trust, communication, and cooperation has been created. . . Now here comes Fox and Ron Kaye to divide the people yet again. . . All for political gain so a Republican can get elected. . . .
    Beyond pathetic.
Ron, City Council members don’t get people out of jail. . . If a City Attorney followed the orders of any councilperson on how to handle a misdemeanor, the City Attorney is incompetent and corrupt. . . . Decisions are made on the basis of what the situation demands. .
    Shameful and shameless Ron. . . .
These “charges” are over three years old. . . They are discredited. . . . They are false. . . They are phony.
Just ask Chief Beck. . . or former Chief Bratton. . . Something Fox News never did because it would undermine the theme of their phony story. . . .
I’m disappointed in you Ron. . . . As a former editor you are supposed to demonstrate some thought and discretion. . . . You failed to do so in this situation.
The problem with most of our political leaders (and the media) is that they seek to divide rather than unite. The fact that you have chosen to pass on this piece of trash diminishes your stature, your competence, and whatever commitment you have (or had) to objectivity.
You owe Janice Hahn and anyone looking for basic objectivity, fairness, and competence an apology.
If you really care about this subject, then I will ask again Ron. . . Come to a Watts Gang Task Force Meeting. . . 10:00 am, every Monday at Janice Hahn’s office in Watts (103rd and Compton) . . . Ask questions and inform yourself before passing on partisan ‘trash’ like this.
    Noel Weiss

Noel take a breath. Ron is reporting a news item. I think you’re way to close to Janice, Noel to look at the whole picture. The fact is Chief Beck and Chief Bratton no matter what they think of Janice Hahn would NEVER SAY IT OUT LOUD. They have to play politics. KFI was doing the story yesterday.I listened and heard both sides of the story. KFI tore apart Fox 11 story on Janice supporting gangsters and guess what? When you have gangsters stating they are being supported by Janice Hahn and some paid by a non profit she is associated with that’s a problem. My big issue with Janice is she’s an imbecile. Anytime she speaks in Council she sounds like a moron. To me, blood is thicker then water and as soon as Mayor Hahn lost, Janice was the biggest ass kisser to Antonio. Janice also got $50,000 from CD14 and took credit for the Cheryl Green Youth Center. Janice Hahn didn’t give a shit about innocent lives until Cheryl Green was killed. Why should Janice be elected to hire office when she is responsible like the rest of the clowns on council for putting our City in ruins? If she wins so be it, but all the people I know who are Democrats aren’t voting for her

  14. Anonymous says:

I saw the Channel 11 news last night and ended up laughing and laughing and laughing, though none of it was intended as humor. Hahn’s lawyer actually sent a letter to FOX to try to keep them from reporting on this? YOU MUST BE KIDDING ME. Then Hahn looked ridiculous as she repeated – without conviction – her ‘lack of knowledge’ of any gang ties between the gang members hired into her program.
    That was simply comedy.

  15. Anonymous says:

Why would Janice Hahn attend the funeral for one of the most notorious gangsters from Grape Street gangs and speaks highly about him during the eulogy? Then she attends another funeral for a gangster and does the same thing even though its known throughout the community this gangster was violent. Actions speak louder then words and she can’t deny she supports gangsters by attending these funerals.

  16. Anonymous says:

Janice cries tears for murderers and thugs.

  17. Janice Hahn was even pushing the DWP to hire some of these gangbangers. The DWP said no way, but she persisted. But then Union Bo$$ d’Arcy said no. She obeyed.

  18. Anonymous says:

Since this happened and with little to no press where has Janice Hahn been? No press conference or grandstanding for two innocent victims of gang violence on Grape Street. Could it be she doesn’t want to bring attention to the rise in homicide in her Watts community? Could it be the timing of these 2 innocent victims are not in tune with her election campaign so she doesn’t want to bring attention to it? Janice Hahn has proven innocent lives aren’t as important then her political career so she is silent on the issue and hopes it will go away. THe media needs to ask Hahn why she hasn’t said a word about these 2 people being killed on Grape Street.
    “”"Double Murder on Grape Street
Who killed young Emmanuel Berry and Angelica Escalante? After it happened, it didn’t make much of a media splash.”

  19. Noel Weiss says:

    People. . . .
    Please think. . . . Get outside your prejudices. . . . . .
You all appear to have a stereotype in your mind of Watts, the people of Watts, and the sociology of Watts which is rank and which is wrong. . . . .Yet feel obliged to permit yourselves to be manipulated by blatantly false reporting made solely as an 8 minute campaign commercial for Craig Huey. . . . aimed right at your prejudices and predetermed predilections. . . to the point that you take the word of known gang members over the word of Janice Hahn when it suits and reinforces your prejudices or dislike of Janice Hahn. . . . .
Do you think allowing yourselves to be manipulated in this fashion is appropriate or thoughtful?
Now, let’s take the question about Janice attending the funeral of what you (and the report) describes as a gang member.
Again we are back to competent investigation and reporting. Who else was there, do we know? The reporter was not inquiring or thoughtful enough to ask or seek out that information. Whether it is at a funeral or at the Watts Gang Task Force, a core goal was, is, and remains to try to persuade the young people in attendance to refrain from joining criminal gangs. Sometimes that means doing things that you would find ‘strange’.
My guess is that there were people at that funeral who felt obliged to attend out of peer pressure, not because they adored the deceased gang member. Understand people, that the pressure to join gangs can be intense. Each individual may not have the kind of support system needed to withstand the urge. The sociology of these situations is not pristine, but opaque. As such, it lends itself to sloppy thinking. . . to inaccurate conclusions. . .
As a political leader of this community, what do you do to try to capture the young people who reside on the ‘cusp’. . . . . Do you want to capture them, or do you want the gangs to capture them?
Do you think these people ‘deserve’ their fate? Even if you do, what about the young kids. . . the next generation?
    Do you care about them?
The media rarely publishes a good story about Watts. . . No one wants to read about it (apparently). . . In some ways, and for some people, things are as threatening to a young person as can be.
These are your fellow Angelos. . . The very young people (I’m talking about elementary school kids here who could either end up in gangs or in productive pursuits) did not ask to be born. . . They seek what you all seek. . . a decent shot at the American dream. . . .
Showing respect for that community may involve doing things which on the surface may appear to be sanctioning unlawful conduct. . . .
Honestly people, and I say this with the utmost respect, compassion and love need a place in this analysis. . . . . none of you seem to know what you’re talking about. . . . and until you spend time attending Watts Gang Task Force Meetings to educating yourself first hand on what is going on, Janice Hahn should get the benefit of the doubt. . . rather than your ridicule or scorn.
Chief Bratton is no longer in office. . . He doesn’t have to say anything positive. When the Attorney General of the United States is so impressed with Janice’s efforts in Watts (as he did in July, 2010), and makes a special effort to meet with the Watts Gang Task Force, is he appeasing ‘gangs’? No one compelled him to come to Watts to visit and meet with the task force, with Janice, with Chief Bratton (at the time) and the Mayor.
The objective facts are people that homicides and related crimes are down and remain down over 50% in Watts year over year. More people are alive today because of what Janice Hahn has accomplished.
To say Janice Hahn never cared about Watts until Cheryl Greene was killed is cruel and blatantly false. It is rank prejudice and rank stupidity. . . . . Again, it betrays political prejudice. . . .
For the writer who remarked about my being ‘close’ to Janice, implying my error in judgment is supposed to be excused, let me say again that there is no political leader in this City or in this State possessed of more leadership capability and skill than Janice Hahn. . . She continues to find new ways to empower the people. . . to challenge herself and to grow every day. . . as a person and as a political leader. . . She is not perfect. . . no one is (obviously). . . But unlike the other ‘kids with power’ who sit on that City Council, Janice Hahn is unique as she endeavors to reach a good working balance between her ‘ego’ and her imagination. . . .
Let me end with one other little example. . . I’ve spent the past two-three years trying to get a ‘youth’ track and field program started in Watts. . . . There are obvious challenges which I won’t get into in depth. . . . This year, we are on the ‘cusp’ of getting 8 kids qualified to attend the AAU National Jr. Olympics in New Orleans (the qualifying meet is this weekend in Corona. . . So everyone, please root for my kids. . . )
That effort required me to seek out known gang members (existing and past). Why? I didn’t want my track meets to be a venue for a shooting or difficulty or social violence. Part of the way I also dealt with that problem was and is to partner with ‘PAL’ (Police Athletic League out of the Southeast Station). .
But the point of this example is that a reporter lacking in curiosity or a desire to really ‘report’ the news, whose intent was to smear me, would go to those gang members and get them to say that I met with them. . . and give the false impression that I was ‘coddling’ gangs or appeasing gangs. . .
That would be false. . . but if the reporter had a political agenda and wanted to smear me to gain political advantage for his or her political agenda, then that reporter would report ‘as fact’ my ‘engagement’ with gangs. . . and then leave it to the viewer to draw the viewer’s pre-existing orientation (or bias) toward the desired conclusion (which, again, would be false).
To demonstrate the prejudice and the obvious manipulation of the media, an objective evaluation of the story would require the viewer or reader to believe the gang member over me. . . . .
Our collective progress as citizens is impeded when we allow others to mock us by trying to manipulate us with such nonsense as this phony trash hit-piece on Janice Hahn which prays on the ignorance and the prejudice of the viewer or listener. . . Two traits we are all going to have to continue to try to overcome if we are going to come together to solve the problems confronting this City (all the people of the City).
Manufactured division and negativity only serves the interests of the powerful and well-connected. . . who want to weaken the opposition and those of us who seek to expand citizen participation and citizen empowerment. . .with the goal being to maintain their power at our expense (literally and figuratively).
For you conservative Republicans out there. . . demeaning someone’s intelligence is the refuge of the intellectually lazy. . . It was no more true in Reagan or Eisenhower’s case (recall how the liberal Democrats continued to say how ‘stupid’ Reagan and Eisenhower were) than it is in Janice Hahn’s case.
You may disagree with Janice’s approach or her politics or the way she has managed her campaign. . . Fine. . . Disagree. . . But let’s try to be more forgiving (the antidote to anger), more gracious (the antidote to fear), and more respectful of our differences so we can live in the overlap of our core social values and objectives.
This undue partisanship is not healthy. . . as we continue to witness in Sacramento and in Washington DC. No one has a monopoly on wisdom people. We need to focus on finding ways to come together and unite where possible. That will involve, at times, each of us, succeeding (after the exertion of a lot of effort) to escape from our own ‘comfort zones’.

Both FoxNews and the rest of the media have every right to publish the facts about gangs and Janice Hahn.
The threatening letter that Hahn’s lawyers sent is an insult and an attack on the first amendment and on journalists and I’m glad that FoxNews stuck to their guns.
And Janice Hahn is a grown woman and should handle these stories accordingly (either ignoring them or responding to them.
But voters need to grow up to. Don’t let your emotions rule your decision making. As bad as Janice Hahn’s behavior on this issue may be, make a decision on your interests and your beliefs.
You have the right to be pissed off and take revenge, but will that be in the best interests of your community?
What are the key local and national issues that are important to you and how do you think each candidate, Huey or Hahn will handle those issues?
You should fully understand Huey’s positions and where he is coming from. Those against Huey have every right to complain about him and ask him questions about where he stands the issues since this isn’t the City Council, it is a Congressional Seat.
As an example – Where do the candidates stand on continue war efforts in the middle east and on military spending in general? – Guns or butter issues.
And on the same token we have a right to question Huey – Will he ignore consumer protections issues since he represents the direct marketing companies? Will he continue with big tax breaks for corporations while the middle class pays the tax bills?
Everything is on the table for both candidates.

The Tea Party is pretty slick – They play on people’s prejudices and emotions – Dividing groups such as some who blame everything on “illegals.”
But then those that support the Tea Party are really supporting Welfare for the Rich. Special tax loopholes in which big corporations such as oil companies earn windfall profits and pay little taxes.
And the working and middle class is left with the bill while the Tea Party beneficiaries multi-millionaires and Billionaires get all the benefits.
Just look at the Tea Party, California Republicans supporting Redevelopment…Only 5 opposed it in Sacramento.
    The “Queens of Hypocrisy”
And that’s were Craig Huey is coming from. Looking out for big business and the rich and screw the working and middle class taxpayers.

Care to be more specific. . . . 11:12 am?
Care to come out from under your anonymity?
Fox News of course has a right to publish and report. No one is censoring them or advocating for censoring them.
Producing the functional equivalent of an 8 minute free campaign commercial for Craig Huey is over the top, but that just demonstrates the hypocrisy of Fox News. . . decrying crime while (possibly) skirting the rules itself. . .
Looks like that’s something Rupert Murdoch is good at (witness what’s going on in England with the phone-hacking scandal).
I did not comment on the letter sent by Janice Hahn’s lawyer. . . That’s a deflection. . . an excuse. . . an irrelevancy for purposes of this discussion.
My focus is on citizen-empowerment. . . taking care to ensure the ‘little guy’ and average ‘gal’ have their interests protected in an environment where socialism for the rich (where the losses are socialized – witness the Wall Street bailout – and no prosecutions for this massive deceit and lawlessness which nearly brought the system to the brink of collapse) seems to predominate over capitalism (where the rich and well-endowed want to privatize their ‘gains’).
Hypocrisy is rampant on the Huey side. . . He decries big government, but not huge (dangerous – anti-capitalistic) concentrations of economic power that will, if unchecked, engulf and eventually destroy the middle class.
Janice Hahn is and will continue to be a huge friend of small business. . .She is not a friend of monopolists or huge concentrations of economic power. Change and renewal are critical to our growth. . . I’m sure the buggy-whip manufacturers were concerned about losing jobs when the automobile came along. . . No doubt those employing children in industry at the turn of the 20th Century needed to keep all the money they were making off the backs of those kids because, after all, they could reinvest it and produce more jobs.
No doubt financier JP Morgan wanted tribute from the government for bailing it out on two separate occasions. . . and he got it. . . . .
Those arguing for a living wage back in the 1930′s were met with arguments that it was anti-capitalistic because, after all, the worker could just refuse his services and demand a living wage. . .To this day, same thing. . .
Huey’s arguments are intellectually dishonest and internally inconsistent. . . . Let him advocate for the breakup of the Wall Street banks. . . the break-up of the health insurance monopolies. . . . agri-business monopolies. . . the large oil company subsidies. . . Then, at least, he would be consistent in saying that less government is needed because the economic power (like the power of government) should be and has been dissipated and disbursed.
Don’t hold your breath. The Tea-Party Republicans (and I’m sure they mean well) are being used by Wall Street and the power players to maintain their power. This is a reckless, ruthless game being played by huge financial interests who want to exploit the dissatisfaction of the average citizen for their own continued economic gain, growth, and power. They have set things up so it is ‘tails they win; heads we lose’. . . . Believe me people, if the debt ceiling is not raised and the US government cannot pay its bills, then it will be those little tea party Republicans who suffer right along with the middle class Democrats. . . The rich will end up doing just fine. . . figuring out a way to say . . . “See, I told you so. . . “, continue to divide. . . continue to maintain their power. . . until finally , the citizens of this country will get teed off enough to say ‘Enough is Enough’ and economically and politically dismember those who got us into this mess.
We must fill the ‘reason gap’ here. . . There is no need, time, or sanction for hyperbole, rancor, discord, difficulty, or partisan division. . . Yet that is precisely what those in power want to maintain. . . and that’s what the Fox News ‘trash -viral’ hit piece on Janice Hahn represents.
It is Janice Hahn who is the true threat to the powers that be. . . which is why they overreach to try to demonize her with falsehoods and slanders.
If those of you want to buy and digest this garbage, then that’s your choice. . .But don’t pretend for one instance you know what you’re talking about. . .
If the Republicans want to continue to fight foreign wars, is it too much to ask to tax the people who possess the wealth to pay for those wars?
Where’s the competence; the coherence in terms of infrastructure improvements?
The cost of solar is coming down every year. . . Anything wrong with helping jump-start a new industry. . . where we can have manufacturing, distribution, and installation locally? It is not pie in the sky. . . It is being done all over this state, the nation, and the world. The oil companies and the utilities don’t like it because it challenges their economic predominance. . .
The beauty of our system is the capability for it to regenerate itself. . . Economic monopolies are as wasteful and fraudulent as are political monopolies. Neither Exxon, nor any other huge oil company is the paragon of efficiency. . .
I’m looking for balance, for common sense, and for practical, progressive solutions to problems which will empower the people and challenge the status quo. . That’s my view of our American tradition and it is what got us to be number one. . . Abandoning those principles won’t allow us to maintain what we have.
Craig Huey wants to do away with the EPA, the SEC, the FCC. . . People, respectfully, this is radical. . . We don’t live in 1911, we live in 2011. . We are being challenged all over the world. . . I have no desire to leave the future of my kids to the whims of crony-corporate-socialist (for the rich) monopolistic capitalists whose interest in pure profit for themselves outweighs the broader public interest. . .
These are not public benefit corporations. . . They have a duty to their shareholders to maximize profits. . even if it means polluting the air and water; even if it means stepping on the middle class and its ability to grow and prosper; even if it means a lack of openness and transparency (and anyone who thinks AEG wants openness and transparency is simply wrong (to put it charitably).
The ‘check’ on this kind of untrammeled economic power is (for better or worse) government. This is where Janice Hahn has been there for the people. . . often (in the end) with the praise of business, labor, the environmentalists, and the people. Her record stands for itself in that regard.
Once these anonymous bloggers decide to come out from under the curtain, I’d be happy to debate this with them, any time, any place. . . In fact, I pick as the venue, the Watts Gang Task Force. . . so those that seem so sure in their position can begin to see how the other half lives. . .and begin to understand why. . . .
Then, and only then, will the manufacturers and purveyors of hate, deceit, negative energy, bigotry, and plain on nonsense and misinformation begin to realize that these tactics of manipulation and disguise will not work. . . and that the common sense of the people will come through.

Noel Weiss also likes to forget that at the place where Carmen “gaga” trutanich had his own victory party in 2009 at Univeral City, some of Hahn’s “bloods” beat the hell out of a guy and took pictures WITH HIS JEWELRY ON AFTER THE GUY LAY IN BLOOD IN THE HOTEL ROOM!
Wanna buy a cup of coffee at Downtown City Hall?
gangbangers hold the ONLY CONCESSION FOR THE COFFEE SHOP NOW!
Janis’ is a PARASITE, A leech that has lived off her late father’s last name way, way too damn long now!
She’s spent the last full year (being paid at taxpayer expense a hell of alot of $$$) running for Congress and Lt. Gov, thus she isn’t “fully employed” as a CouncilClown then, now is she? Wanna quote the City Charter Noel on how that alone could get Hahn KICKED OFF THE CLOWNCIL?
    Of couse you don’t, Noel!
Ron Kaye represents 110% of the City’s TAXPAYERS, you know, the ones who pay the bills, the NON-PARASITES LIKE YOU. Janis Hahn will sit on her ass while DWP comes in for a 25% RATE HIKE ON THE SAME ABUSED TAXPAYERS. Janis Hahn also allowed her Anti-Arizona stance “an exception” so those Red Light Cameras can keep screwing us for those ticket bucks.
The City of Los Angeles is headed for LEGITIMATE 3rd world status. The future King and Queen of England better take a long, hard look at L.A. because in 10 years there won’t be a single house THAT ISN’T OWNED AND RENTED OUT BY PEOPLE WHO DON’T LIVE IN L.A. It’ll be a land of Clownhouses with 10-20 people stuffed in slum houses where rents are high, but reasonable for the squatters who live within. It’ll be a land with continual 30% UNEMPLOYMENT. It’ll be a land with the highest taxes and utility rates. Gone will be from it the middle class, the few who dare still spend time hoping and PRAYING PARASITES LIKE HAHN WILL BE TERMED OUT OR GET VOTED THE HELL OUT.
But like CD12, one payed off hack leaves and then another payed off hack steps right in, continuing the sell out of the taxpayers and single family homeowners.
Hahn represents the Parasites of L.A. and is an enemy of any kind of legitimate businesses and a real enemy of the single family household.
Craig Huey, out of his own pocket, had to put up enough $$$ just to barely compete with the Machine that backs Hahn! Voters usually don’t get a real chance to elect NORMAL PEOPLE TO LOCAL OFFICE!
TUESDAY, JULY 12, 2011—YOU THE AGGRIEVED, THE OVERTAXED, OVERSOLD, AND OVERBURDENED GOOD PEOPLE OF THE COASTAL CITIES WILL GET A RARE CHANCE TO VOTE DOWN AN L.A. MACHINE PARASITE NAMED JANIS HAHN AND HER DE FACTO AGENT NOEL “FOMERLY GOOD” WEISS (Not to be confused with shamed former councilclown Jack-Ass Weiss who we the voters got the hell out of office.)
VOTE FOR MR. CRAIG HUEY AND JUST SAY NO TO THE HAHN, THE REAL HAHN YOU SEE ON FOX 11!
    Thanks Ron!!!

    To Wayne from Encino,
Your voicemail message to John and Ken was aired Friday, July 8 at 6:12 PM. You discussed Hahn and also mentioned Chicken.

  31. Chris Rowe says:

    To Ron and Noel:
I admire both of you for caring about the American people and particularly for those who are not part of the upper class.
Both of you are passionate. I don’t know if it is Ron’s new freedom as a blogger instead of an editor that allows him to be so negative.
Ron, I prefer to see you attack the issues rather than the characters. I don’t think that all of our elected officials are as bad as you make them out to be. Everyone is not “corrupt” or inept. It is incredibly hard to deal with all of the issues that a Councilmember must address.
I am not saying to give them a pass, or to agree to allow the LADWP to raise our rates. Amazingly, the one Councilmember who probably thinks we disagree on everything is Councilmember Smith. Yet is was Smith who wrote a lot of the LADWP resolutions that were to go on the ballot. I agreed with them all to my recollection. By the time they got through Council, they were completely watered down.
I do not know how Jack can agree to raise the water or electric rates. The Governor has declared that we are no longer in a drought, so we should not have to pay as high of prices to import water.
And I will say again what I have before – the 8% transfer from the electric to the general fund above our City Tax is an illegal tax. That is the money that should go for our energy costs to move towards alternative energy.
Finally, I think that our elections for Governor and Senator proved that we do not want to elect people that can just “buy” an office in Washington. That is what Boxer ran against – and she won. Jerry Brown is a Democrat, and he is proving to be more conservative regarding balancing the State budget than any other Democrat that I know.
We have to get back to the “Clean Money” campaign and allow someone that is willing to put up $5.00 a person to really make a difference. Unfortunately, after the recent rulings by the Supreme Court, I can’t see grassroots candidates with no money ever succeeding in any competitive races.
Let’s work together for postive change, and leave the negative personal attacks for offline.
    With respect.
    Chris

I’m a Democrat but no way in hell voting for Janice Hahn. Since the Failure of a Mayor took office our entire city has deteroriated. For the weekend the illegal vendors were cleaned up downtown for the Royals but will be back after. The Gangster Mayor and the bafoons on council all support gangsters. With every city dept. being cut the Mayor increased the budget for gangsters $28 million and not libraires, not day care, not parks, but gangsters. And I agree with poster the Failure of Mayor and bafoons brought in the gangsters into City Hall with Homeboy who makes money to defend gangsters in court. Then you have the gangster thugs in council like Alarcon, Reyes, Huizar and Cardenas who protect and support gangsters at every point. Goes to show they are uneducated, lack morals, ethics and class. Jan Perry is no better naming squares in her district for Nation of Islam thugs. Garcetti and LaBonge more of the same mentality or lack of. Face it folks we are in deep shit trouble with these clowns making the decisions for us.

“I don’t think that all of our elected officials are as bad as you make them out to be. Everyone is not “corrupt” or inept”. Chris Rowe, you are wrong; Ron is right. Each & every story Ron writes proves they are. They are corrupt and inept and have ruined our city. Just because they also write a few “good” bills for which they are paid handsomely does’nt make them wholesome or good.

  34. Wayne from Encino says:

Yes, John and Ken ran an important message I left them: JANICE HAHN HAS A CHICKEN BRAIN (CONTAINED INSIDE A CHICKEN HEAD!)
VOTE FOR CRAIG HUEY AND STOP THE CHICKEN HEAD’S REIGN OF TERROR ON SMALL BUSINESSES AND SINGLE FAMILY HOMEOWNERS!
AND OF COUSE THE CUSTOMARY JANIS’ SLOGAN
    “BOK BOK BAAAAWWK!:
As for an earlier post re: Noel and a crush on Chicken Head: He kisses her ass everytime he sees her at meetings!
Finally, I appreciate the candor of a registered Dem. denouncing the Hahn! I’m an independent, and I was a Repub. but I had to fire the Republican Party after John and Ken showed these Republicans were voting for tax increases!
I’ll always vote for the PERSON who supports cutting wasteful spending, lowing utility bills and property taxes, and supports JOB CREATION locally in the City we dwell in. Party affiliation is relevant but just one factor in evaluating any candidate for office.
GO OUT AND VOTE IN HUEY TUESDAY! He’s never held any public office before and we need some new guys in Washington ASAP.
This blog has shown we’re all tired of 25% rate hikes and worthless politicians running us into higher and higher unemployment numbers.

So people here take their cues on policy from John and Ken, aka the same guys who want the TSA to pat down everyone except white people. That explains a lot

Wayne from Encino has started to lose his marbles. He started out as a reasonable guy. But his extremism will lose him whatever credibility he had. He’ll have a few fans on the fringes, the ones who effect no good in a society other than to promote violence.

  37. Anonymous says:

Please remember it is Janice Hahn, and not her passionate promoter Noel Weiss, who is seeking higher office. Moreover, Mr Weiss’ recent muddled posts extolling Ms. Hahn have given us good reason to question Mr. Weiss’ judgment.

  38. Wayne from Encino says:

It’s terrific how the Downtown thug-tocracy pouring over 1.5 MILLION BUCKS into the “ChickenHead for Congress 2011″ SMEAR CAMPAIGN VS. HUEY AND earlier Ms. Bowen have been reduced to knocking on doors and BEGGING for votes and the ‘can we all get along’ mumblings! This campaign is nothing but a territorial grab by AEG and the DWP for an expansion of influence, like some damn invading army attacking an adjacent nation! This time it’s the Coastal Cities! Remember the Hahn Oil Tax? It was so damn bad for L.A. SHE EVEN VOTED NO FOR IT AFTER SHE SPONSORED IT!
Who would pay to fill the “Chicken Seat” in a special? Yep, THE AGGRIEVED TAXPAYERS! And the seat would go vacant for nearly a YEAR AS WELL, SEE THE CD2 SITUATION FOR GUIDANCE ON THAT.
Huey’s victory would save the City the 2.5 million for a special in CD15, and keep the wolves of AEG and DWP within the L.A. City Limits. That’s a win-win for everyone, and a Hahn loss may send a strong message to SCALE BACK THE DWP RATE HIKE REQUEST and REDRAW THE NFL DEAL INTO A WINNER FOR L.A. vs. A CLOSED DOOR GIVAWAY PLAN.
The arguments for Hahn clearly fail time and time again.
    Conclusion: VOTE FOR HUEY!

I can’t believe you idiots elected this dumbo to congress. I’m surely glad to be out of California. Enjoy your new congress critter
