Don’t Just Sit There, Sound the Alarm — Save L.A., Tell Your Friends and Neighbors: No on A, Yes on James or Perry

It’s in the hands of all of us to stop the political machine from doing more harm to the city and the quality of our lives — we can force them to the table to negotiate real solutions by voting down the Measure A sales tax hike and getting Kevin James or Jan Perry into the mayoral runoff.

We don’t have to accept a permanent sales tax increase that only rewards the failure of people like Wendy Greuel and Eric Garcetti with more money to give away to the unions and their political friends, the big money special interests that have poured millions of dollars into their campaigns and into passing the phony sales tax hike.

Gutless as always, the city’s elected officials have sent paid functionaries, the politicized Police and Fire chiefs and their fallguy CAO Miguel Santana to make the unmakeable case for the tax as you can see in the video above in which Santana and me debate the tax issue on Sunday’s “News Conference” with Conan Nolan on KNBC.

According to Dan Schnur of USC, who was also on the show, the latest poll shows Measure A winning but beatable and show James and Perry could make the mayoral runoff with a surge in turnout, now expected to be the most dismal in modern L.A. history after a dismal campaign.

Tweedledee and Tweedledum would be better choices for mayor than the easiest to manipulate (Greuel) versus the easiest to intimidate (Garcetti).

James and Perry have shown throughout their careers that they have the guts to stand up for what they believe in and to fight against entrenched interests.

As usual, Greuel nothing to say Sunday when Conan Nolan pressed her for concrete answers to the hard questions she has ducked during the whole campaign:

Mr Nolan brings up (or implies) there is a conflict of interest in negotiating contracts by the very officials that benifted from the financial support of those whose contracts are being negotiated. He wanted to know if that will be fixed. Her answer was the usual “transparency” answer and, in no way, did I hear that the obvious conflict of interest issue will be addressed. Perhaps that is something that needs to be addressed through legal channels. I’m curious, though, what entity can negotiate since most Councilmembers are supported by those special interests.

I was going to vote for James, but he hasn’t run a good campaign, spending all his money on consultants, and not sending out any mail. Jan Perry will not be a floor mat for the City Employee Unions like Garcetti/Greuel…Perry has stood-up to the DWP Union many times in the past and voted against rate increases. I think she’s represented her council district well compared to others. She is pro-developer, but each council member controls development in their district, not the Mayor. Perry has the support of 2 important fiscal conservatives: former Police Chief Bernard Parks and former Valley Council Member and Reserve Officer Greig Smith. The top 2 will go into “the finals”, the May runoff election. Even if James got into it, I don’t think he could win it. I’m worried that Perry, James, and Pleitez (who got into the race very late) will split their votes, which will lead to Garcetti and Greuel (who have both raised Millions of $$ from Special Interests) in the finals, which would be a disaster for the City of LA. Please join me in voting for Jan Perry for Mayor..if you don’t want to vote for her, then I recommend Kevin James.

Night and Day difference between Perry-sellout to developers and creator of billboard blight- and Kevin James who offers a corrupt-free LA. Their names should not be linked as though one is as good as the other. Perry is better than Gruel & Garcetti but does not match Kevin James’s integrity and hope for a city hall that cares about its residents instead of special interests and public unions.

Guys, since we don`t want Greuel or Garcetti , let`s go with Perry. She has a better chance in the general election. After all , we live in a very liberal city. We definitely don`t want the corrupt Greuel.

CD5—VOTE FOR HERD THE CHALLENGER TO BIG HEAD KORETZ!!!!! Free the
Encino Nation of the City Hall Machine!!!

  6. Wendy gave the IBEW a free pass over the last four years.

Did she even look at the IBEW Premium that costs Ratepayers $250 million a year, not including the impact of restrictive work rules?

She also failed to investigate numerous pet projects, the dumping of 1,600 City employees on the DWP (a number may have been lent back to the City), or the $250 million transfer from the DWP Power System to the City’s piggy bank.

  7. Ricardo says:

OMG Perry really????? Now I know you guys have lost it. LA Weekly did a good story on Jan Perry’s money issues. If she can’t take care of her own personal finances how the hell can she be a good mayor. Perry voted for all the DWP rate hikes you guys keep ignoring, she pushed to have her pals at AEG get those digital billboards without a permit, remember the South LA Farmer’s fiasco? She supports Nation of Islam radicals and votes everything against public safety in council.

So Ron is supporting a deadbeat. 180k salary and she can’t pay her mortgage?

Ron is supporting this clowncil woman because he cannot bring himself just to support Kevin James. By asking to vote for either, the votes will be split and this will assure garcetti – gruel runoff.

Going back to perry – her financial difficulties seem to be significant. Would you think she may need somebody like AEG to “help out”?
To see nothing about her finances in the la slimes or Ron’s old rag is something.
Oh if she were a republican, then at the top of the 1st page, of course.

  8. Ron Johnson says:

“Kevin James who offers a corrupt-free LA.” WHAT!?!? HE DOES? By WHAT method? “corrupt-free?” Now THAT is SOME claim. Only problem is, corruption doesn’t just stop, cause you promised to end it. And when Ron includes Jan with Kevin, what do you think he REALLY is saying? How about, “Gee, thimy blog is for grassroot silly-hearts, and I can’t just say Jan. ;)

Oh Angelenos, awaken from your dreams.
Do not let false comrades seduce you with
their cheap candies and fairy tales. Beware.
Do not enslave yourselves. Be free peoples.

  10. teddy says:

People, let us stop and think Ron is a nice guy who has given us hours of his life searching the facts about LA and its political situation, If we stop and think about it, he says Kevin James or Jan Perry. Not vice versa.

No, Ron, we are doing our best, but we know we we are battling the unions of people who work for our tax money. You are just reminding us that winning that seat is not going to be easy. Thank you for all that you do.

And thank you to all who are also working for change.

THEN they are given an annual raise!!!! If we have a pension we paid for half of’irt until we retired. The company then paid the other half into the fund. That other half is also money we donated. Otherwise it was a potential pay raise.

  11. Wayne from Encino reminds us to GIVE A BIG THANX TO RON says:

Teddy is right—Ron has some faults, but he put the City Hall Terds on notice back 4 years ago and right now today that WE know they’re TERDS and WHY! Ron provides the platform to speak THE TRUTH while the L.A. Crimes and the Daily News-Crap Paper don’t. Jan Perry is TOUGH! But…She’s a two faced (three chinned) FAT RAT!
Kevin”s the right choice this time around. Give him YOUR vote and let’s see if a run-off can be had vs. the Terd Garcetti or Cruela-Gruela.

  12. ex valley says:

So what is going on?? The usual low turnout???
People are too lazy to be bothered ?
    Don’t whine late on then.
