Here’s two reasons out of 1,000 good ones why you people who vote for failed state legislators 2JobBob Blumenfield, Felipe Fuentes, Mike Davis, Gil Cedillo and Curren Price to serve on the L.A. City Council and Mike Feuer to serve as City Attorney ought to have your heads examined.
They all voted for AB 109, authored by Woodland Hills’ own Blumenfield, that was ill-conceived, loophole-laden and approved on party lines in a mad rush without even testimony from law enforcement. They just wanted to reduce the massive budget deficit and the prison overcrowding they all helped create.
What the measure did was free thousands of hard-core criminals who supposedly were non-serious, non-violent, non-sexual offenders onto the streets or dump them into local jails where they would be released early without supervision or perhaps with GPS devices that did nothing to track their whereabouts.
People like repeat sex offender Jerome DeAvila who was arraigned last week for the rape, murder and robbery of his 76-year-old grandmother. Thanks to AB 109, he had been cited for as many as 11 parole violations in the last year and was set free after serving a single day in jail. A few days later he killed probably the only person in the world who gave a damn about him. Nothing sexual or serious in his criminal background?
Or take the case of Larry Darnell Bishop, 20, – convicted of burglary and robbery and finally assault with a deadly weapon for which he did four months in jail of his two-year sentence. Nothing serious or violent in his criminal background?
Now he’s charged with the murder of Sheriff’s Department technician Victor McClinton who was gunned outside his Pasadena home on Christmas morning as he walked a holiday well-wisher and a coach in the youth sports program he created to their car. It was a careless mistake — Bishop and two pals were gunning for a fellow gangster, not a wonderful and loving man like McClinton..
Vote for these people to join failed legislators Herb Wesson, Paul Krekorian and Paul Koretz, himself up for re-election.
For once in your lives, think about what you are doing and how you can explain to God and your children why you are voting for people to run your troubled city who don’t give a damn about you.
Without thinking about the consequences of what they were doing, these 10th rate political hacks voted for AB 109. If you put them into city offices, you can be 100 percent certain all you will get is lip service and a smile and the unions, developers and billionaires will be laughing all the way to the bank with your money.
Don’t be fools. Don’t give them even more money by voting to impose the regressive sales tax Measure A that punishes the poor, kills jobs and does nothing to fix the problem caused by City Hall has been spending more than it takes in for decades, in boom times and recession.
Don’t put someone who is the easiest to manipulate like Wendy Greuel and the easiest to intimidate like Eric Garcetti into the mayor’s office when there are stronger people available like Kevin James and Jan Perry who have the courage to tackle the hard issues and lead L.A. out of the wilderness.
Don’t put Feuer of all people in the City Attorney’s office when Carmen Trutanich and Greg Smith will do far better jobs.
Don’t flatter the completely unqualified and self-serving double-talking Dennis Zine in the Controller’s Office when Cary Brazeman and Ron Galperin are fully qualified men with personal integrity.
As a wise man told me long ago, eat good food, don’t smoke, exercise and be kind and generous to everyone you encounter — or go to hell in your own canoe.
I guess that is the best advice I can offer after 33 years of fighting City Hall for a government that serves the people and solves their problems, respecting the values, needs and interests of all.
Of course, you can do anything you want. Just know there are consequences and if you put these worthless professional politicians into complete control of city government, you will pay dearly for your stupidity.
It isn’t the brink of bankruptcy that LA teeters on. It is calamity. They have gambled the city’s future on a boom that may never come again and left no room for a quake or a riot or a massive brush fire or another deep recession or a thousand other things that could go wrong.
But don’t take my word for it. Do what you want — ignore it, stay ignorant, respond to meaningless symbolic language — and go to hell in your own canoe. It’s your right.

The two city departments with the most millionaires are scaring the public to vote for a scam to enrich these guys some more. Beck should be fired for this conflict of interest.
“For more than a week, the Proposition A campaign has been running TV ads that feature Police Chief Charlie Beck warning that public safety services are in danger. The warning accompanies images of patients being rushed to hospitals and firetrucks racing to emergencies.
Backers of the measure contend that the sales tax hike is needed to prevent reductions in staffing at the Police and Fire Departments. The USC Price/L.A. Times Poll, taken between Feb. 24 and 27, found that 53% of respondents favored the tax and 41% opposed it”.
I wonder if they just used the same footage from the last tax they wanted to pass.
“Backers of the measure have raised $1.5 million for their campaign, much of it from public employee labor unions, developers and billboard companies doing business at City Hall”.
Harvey Englander, uncle of the Councilman Englander is the consultant for Prop A. Understand the corrupt forces behind this measure. Don’t vote against your own self interest.
Meanwhile, 2JobBob is using an redundant, unfunded tree-damage-repair mandate as an opportunity for more sidewalk office hours…just like the wonderful things he’s done for the Valley in closing the loopholes for un-hitched trailer signs (freeing up curbspace for painted vans instead…). Heh, looking at the Lamar Advertising “Independent Expeditures and the Van Wagner bucks he’s gotten, you have to wonder if he’s just running interference for them, or making friends for the future. (Dennis Hathaway is already on the case of billboards bucks>Measure A and other beneficiaries: http://banbillboardblight.org/?p=7693%23more-7693
All this from the Budget patsy in chief who promises that since “money is fungible”, there are always new ways of requestering money from one pot to the one he (and his interests) want it in.
Appreciative of other opponents who will hopefully help to give him a reality check tomorrow, my vote for Reseda NC alum (and fellow No on BSolar battler) Cary Iaccino is targetted at making Blumenfield’s an also-ran, and his big backers balk in the future!
I didn’t vote for any of them on my mail-in ballot.
Makes you kinda want to get the hell out of Dodge, doesn’t it?
Pat Morrison’s article in LA Times writes that LA Mayor “Damien Marchessault — who believed California should have been split into two states — shot himself in the City Council chambers in 1868, more than two years after he left office. Burdened by his drinking and gambling, he wrote in his suicide note that he was “ashamed to meet my fellow man on the street” — streets that had turned into sinkholes because of his administration’s incompetence”.
Now, we have three shameless councilmembers running for Mayor despite their incompetence, sinkholes and looming bankruptcy. Worse, an equally shameless public willing to elect them.
Psychiatrists say that it is impossible to stop people from committing civic suicide. The citizens in L.A. prove it.
Lemmings.
What dumb voters are there in LA.

Truly dumb and dumber. You cannot fix the stupid.
A Wendy G ad has her photo with the captions “anti-graffiti.” What, as opposed to “pro-graffiti?”
Ron: Thank you for telling it like it is in a City that may prove too stupid to handle self government once again. If the run off is one City Hall insider Union Funding Hack against the other City Hall insider Union Funding Hack parents should stop being hypocrites by buckling their kids in car seats.
It is curious that a number of polling places have been shifted. It happened in my hood and I am hearing that has occurred throughout the city. At a time when low voter turnout is an issue, why would the city think that shifting poll location would not affect turn out. curious.
I would guess (but am not certain) that the shifts are a result of the new council district boundaries that went into effect last year.
If people care to vote, there are several ways to find your polling place. It is listed on your sample ballot or you can go online / call the city.
If you care about who represents you and want to defeat the machine, there is no excuse. You can even vote provisional I believe.
Again excuses , excuses excuses. You get the government you deserve.
My poll staff stated this (and May) is run by the City Clerk, while state and national elections done by the Ounty, so that’s why the venues differ.
The liar Villar states that the city is not near BK even as he pushed for Prop A. If the city is doing great then why the need for more money? For city employee wages increase, of course. Based on the low turnout, it will pass too.
“Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa on Tuesday disputed the idea that City Hall is “a mess,” saying campaign ads that portray the city as being near bankruptcy are not accurate.
Standing inside his polling place on the day Angelenos pick a new mayor, Villaraigosa touted the city’s success at reducing the size of its budget shortfall in the middle of a huge economic downturn. “The idea that the city’s a mess just doesn’t conform with reality,” said Villaraigosa, moments after casting his ballot in favor of Proposition A, the half-cent sales tax increase”.

The reasons why the polls are being moved is because there is a close race somewhere (you didn’t say what CD you’re in). Four years ago in CD5 on the General Election there were many polling places moved and other administrative shenanigans just for “that” election. There was very little mentioned of similar happenings in other parts of the City. The results: Koretz won over Vahedi by 260 votes. Do googles of Ron Kaye articles for that election and read the comment sections. There were many up-set people. If the comments only represented a few of the people, were 260 votes manipulated? The City Council did not want a candidate/winner that came from Neighborhood Councils and Homeowner Groups. They wanted instead, a Sacramento re-located yes-man.
If you’re from CD5 during the Vahedi/Koretz election please make a comment to remind us.
Thank you.
Read the David2rb post…now you know why, for the last 4 years, I have oppossed the CD5 election result and never have given legitimacy to Big Head Koretz—he was INSTALLED by the City Hall Machine—NOT DULY ELECTED by the voters! Vahedi should of won the run-off by AT LEAST 1,000 votes!!! He finished FIRST in a crowded field and there were some really good candidates in there in addition to Vahedi. BUT…there was only one SACRAMENTO HACK in the race–and low and behold he gets the seat. VOTE FOR HERD…KICK OUT THE BIG HEAD and FREE Encino from the thug-installed DICTATOR of CD5.
Also worth a mention: SAMPLE BALLOTS switched David Vahedi’s name with a woman who ran for the college board seat. IN THE RUN-OFF SHE WON BY A VERY BIG MARGIN despite a narrow entry in the primary. THOSE WERE ALOT OF VAHEDI voters who didn’t see the number changes on their SAMPLE BALLOTS, ALWAYS VOTE IN PERSON ON ELECTION DAY AND READ THE BALLOT AS YOU VOTE—then we might one day have some damn decent results in sone of these rigged elections!
The City Hall Gang can’t ever risk just ONE of the 15 horseshoe seats being held by ONE OF US HOMEOWNER SCHMUCKS—it has to be UNANIMOUS corruption at City Hall.
Dumbtanich proves how impossible it is to fight this fact of life in L.A.
I voted for Smith for City Att’y for one reason—TO SEE NUCH FINISH THIRD TONIGHT! HE SOLD US ALL OUT AND NEEDS TO BE A ONE TERM RETIRED SCUMBAG as opposed to a 2 term future-retired scumbag….
Early returns
